Flamborough Head is one of the East coasts most stunning and prominent features. It became a heritage coastal feature in 1979 and enjoys many visitors from around the country. The cliffs are home to many breeds of birds not found inland and there are many wonderful walks to be had from this destination. Of course the most popular feature of Flamborough head is it’s lighthouse which stands approximately 27 meters tall atop approximately 30 meter tall cliff tops. The top of the lighthouse offers some truly spectacular views of Bridlington and it’s bay and also towards filey and shipping in the north sea. Tours are available but we think that these may be just to prior arrangement. To go up the lighthouse also incurs a small admission fee but well worth it on a clear day. There are many caves to be located within the cliffs around this area and many many years a go these caves were used by smugglers to smuggle goods into Bridlington and the surrounding areas. If you take a trip on the Yorkshire Belle from Bridlington’s harbour then you can take a closer look at the caves during one of their many cruises.
